as if on cue and as if these times are for reminiscing, my earlier years came back without even the courtesy of knocking. they rushed, flooded, and eased themselves snugly in my mind. braving the winds of spring.
most of these reminiscings were flashbacks that were reared by the music that i listen to every now and then from the ipod. it was not a coincidence that i happen to download and fill my playlist with old songs - only mitch would do just that - but, it was a coincidence that i happen to experience the (my) "true unadulterated" music selection during my earlier years. the earlier years being the 90's.
the not-so-good thing though about these reminiscings is that it is haunting. musically haunting. it haunts you so badly that you yearn to get a firm grip on that music, yet very much wanting to let go (coldplay!). what's even more haunting is the very familiar sensation of you knowing that very familiar tune, but being unable to pin down it's artist or it's title. it could make you lose sleep and it will haunt you even during waking hours.
i cannot say that my music selection then was as broad as any fat highschool boy carrying his backpack with a sony walkman, a hardy boys pocket book and a deck of red magic: the gathering cards. ping. but considerably, looking back, it was not as narrow and as thin as the hamburgers today. not bad at all.
so here below, i tried as best as i could, to remember all the artists that i listen to - or at one time or another, tried to appreciate - from 1990 to 1999 (and early 2k) and listed them.
